About Us THE JERUSALEM SOCIETY FOR THE WELFARE OF STREET CATS is a non-profit organization, founded in August 2000, run entirely by volunteers. Members include new immigrants and veteran Israelis of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and ideological orientations -- united by a common concern over the plight of helpless cats and a desire to help alleviate their suffering, in accordance with the Jewish imperative of preventing tsaar ba'alei chaim (the suffering of living creatures).
WHO ARE WE? In recent
months a group of cat-lovers has organized to support the efforts of the
JSWSC by raising funds and increasing public awareness, particularly among
the Anglo community. We have: We are currently working
on a variety of new projects including a fundraising event, developing
"Friends" organizations abroad, and approaching foundations
for support. We hope to bring you regular updates on our activities through
this newsletter .
